BALLOON  RIDES

Hot air ballooning is an opportunity to experience the same sensation as when man first flew in 1783.  Unlike a plane, a balloon flight is serene and graceful.  The feeling of floating just over the tree tops, climbing high for magnificent views, or slowly skimming across one of the many rivers or ponds is quite exhilarating.  On most balloon flights, we will ascend to 1,000 feet or more where you can experience a spectacular four-state view including the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound on a clear day.

WHEN: Our 'ballooning season' in Eastern Connecticut is usually from April through December.  However, we will fly any time of the year if the weather permits.  Flights are scheduled twice daily: Sunrise Flights, with lift-off time within one hour after sunrise, and Pre-sunset Flights, with lift-off time being one and a half hours prior to sunset.  All flights are wind and weather permitting and may be canceled at any time until launch.  Flights will be canceled due to rain, low visibility, and if winds are forecasted to be greater than 10 mph on the surface, or 20 mph at 3,000 feet.  Canceled flights will be rescheduled for another mutually convenient date.  Safety is first and foremost in all flight operations.

WHERE: Our flights launch from various locations in the Northern New London and Southern Windham Counties.  The actual launch site for your flight will be determined by the wind direction at rendezvous time.  The balloon flight rendezvous area is the parking lot of Ocean State Job Lot and Tractor Supply Co., Exit 85 off Interstate 395 (Click here for map). Duration of the flight is approximately one hour.  There is no steering a hot air balloon, so we never know where we will land until the end of our flight.  Upon landing, the balloon is packed up, we share our champagne toast with the property owner, you will receive a First Flight Certificate and a ride back to your vehicle.  Please allow three hours for the entire adventure.

Balloon flight scheduling is by reservation only. Gift Certificate Boarding Passes are available for any special occasion - birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Mothers/Fathers Day, etc. VISA, MasterCard and Discover Card are accepted.  As with all adventure sports, passengers must sign an Acknowledgment of Risk form prior to their flight, even though we are fully insured with passenger and liability insurance.
